Amana Appliances Warranty Coverage

Even well-built appliances from established manufacturers like Amana can experience unexpected breakdowns or component failures. To protect consumers from immediate repair costs, Amana provides limited warranty coverage on all their products for a specified period after purchase.

Most Amana appliances come with a standard one-year warranty that covers both parts and labor for defects in materials and workmanship. This applies to Amana refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, cooktops, and most other major appliances. However, certain components may have extended coverage periods beyond the standard warranty term.

For example, Amana washing machines typically include additional coverage for the drive motor and wash basket, while Amana dryers may have extended protection for the drum and drive motor components. Some Amana refrigerator models offer extended coverage for the sealed refrigeration system, including the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and connecting tubing.

Amana Warranty Terms for Major Appliances

The specific warranty terms can vary significantly depending on the appliance type and model. Amana washer repair coverage might include five years for the transmission and motor, while other components remain covered for the standard one-year period. Similarly, Amana refrigerator repair coverage often extends to ten years for sealed system components, though labor costs may only be covered for the first year or two.

Amana dryer repair warranties typically provide extended coverage for key mechanical components like the drum and motor assembly. These extended coverage periods recognize that certain parts are more critical to the appliance's operation and should reasonably last longer than standard warranty periods.

Due to the variation in warranty terms across different models and appliance types, it's essential to review your specific product's warranty documentation or check with Amana directly to understand exactly what coverage applies to your appliance.

What Is Covered by an Amana Warranty?

An Amana warranty is designed to cover defects in materials and workmanship that occur under normal household use. This means if your Amana appliance fails due to a manufacturing defect or faulty component within the warranty period, Amana will repair or replace the defective parts at no cost to you.

The warranty covers situations where appliances fail to perform as designed due to issues that existed at the time of manufacture. This includes problems with electrical components, mechanical parts, control systems, and other elements that are integral to the appliance's proper functioning.

However, it's important to understand that Amana appliance repair coverage under warranty is limited to defects present at the time of manufacture or that develop through normal use. Issues resulting from improper installation, misuse, or environmental factors are typically not covered.

Problems Not Covered by an Amana Warranty

Like most manufacturer warranties, Amana warranties exclude coverage for issues related to user error, environmental conditions, or normal wear and tear. Understanding these exclusions can help you properly maintain your appliances and avoid situations where warranty claims might be denied.

Amana warranties typically do not cover damage resulting from:

  • Improper installation or failure to follow installation instructions
  • Use in commercial, office, or recreational vehicle applications
  • Normal wear and tear of consumable parts like filters, light bulbs, or door seals
  • Damage from power surges, electrical problems, or inadequate electrical supply
  • Cosmetic damage that doesn't affect appliance function
  • Damage from accidents, misuse, abuse, or unauthorized modifications
  • Environmental factors such as extreme temperatures, humidity, or corrosive conditions
  • Pest damage or damage from external sources beyond normal household conditions

Additionally, warranty coverage may be voided if repairs are attempted by unauthorized service technicians or if non-genuine Amana parts are used for repairs.

The Benefits of Having Extended Warranty for Your Amana Appliances

Once your Amana warranty expires, you become responsible for all repair costs, which can be substantial for major appliances. Extended warranty coverage provides several important benefits that can protect your investment and provide peace of mind.

Extended warranties bridge the gap between the end of manufacturer coverage and the expected lifespan of your appliances. Since most major appliances are designed to last 10-15 years or more, extended coverage can protect you during the years when repairs become more likely but are no longer covered by the original warranty.

Financial protection is perhaps the most significant benefit. Major appliance repairs can easily cost several hundred dollars, and replacement costs can reach into the thousands. Extended warranty coverage caps your repair costs at a predictable service fee, making it easier to budget for appliance maintenance.

Extended warranties also provide convenience through access to qualified service technicians and streamlined repair processes. Rather than searching for reputable repair services and comparing quotes, extended warranty providers typically have established networks of certified technicians who are familiar with your appliance brand and common repair issues.

Amana Appliance Repair Service Information

When your Amana appliance needs repair, whether under warranty or through an extended coverage plan, using qualified service technicians is crucial for proper diagnosis and repair. Amana maintains a network of authorized service providers who are trained to work on Amana appliances and have access to genuine Amana replacement parts.

For warranty repairs, you'll need to contact Amana customer service to initiate a service request. You'll need your model number, serial number, and proof of purchase date. Amana will then direct you to an authorized service provider in your area or provide instructions for shipping smaller appliances to a service center.

Common Amana appliance repair issues include temperature control problems in refrigerators, drainage issues in dishwashers, heating element failures in dryers, and control board malfunctions in washing machines. Experienced technicians can quickly diagnose these issues and determine whether repairs are covered under warranty or extended protection plans.

Regular maintenance can help prevent many common repair issues. This includes cleaning refrigerator coils, replacing water filters, cleaning dryer vents, and following proper loading procedures for washers and dryers.

How to Find an Amana Extended Warranty

Several options exist for extending warranty coverage on your Amana appliances beyond the manufacturer's warranty period. The key is finding coverage that offers good value and reliable service when you need repairs.

Amana offers its own extended service plans through authorized retailers and directly from the company. These plans typically offer one to five additional years of coverage and use the same authorized service network as warranty repairs. However, these manufacturer-backed plans are often expensive and only cover single appliances.

Third-party extended warranty providers often offer more comprehensive coverage options that can include multiple appliances under a single plan. This approach can be more cost-effective for households with several major appliances and provides the convenience of dealing with a single warranty provider.

Home warranty companies represent another option, offering coverage for appliances along with major home systems like HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. These comprehensive plans can provide significant value for homeowners who want broad protection for their home's major systems and appliances.

When evaluating extended warranty options, consider factors such as coverage limits, service fees, technician network quality, claim processes, and customer service reputation. Reading customer reviews and checking ratings with organizations like the Better Business Bureau can provide insight into different providers' reliability and service quality.

HOME WARRANTY
  • What is a home warranty?

A home warranty is a service contract that covers the cost of repairs and replacements for your home’s systems and appliances when they break down over time from normal wear and tear.

Read more about what is a home warranty.

  • How does a home warranty work?

It’s simple, you can select the coverage plan of your choice that is the best fit for your home and budget.

When you request service for a covered item, you will be charged a pre-set fee in order to initiate the service request.

With an LHG home warranty, when a covered item needs repair, simply follow these steps:

    • File a claim online or call.
    • After paying your set fee, we’ll put you in contact with a local contractor to schedule your appointment.
    • After officially diagnosing the problem, the contractor will contact us to make sure the issue is covered by your plan.
    • If everything checks out, the contractor will then repair or replace the item in question.
    • Afterwards, we’ll check in with you by email or phone to make sure you’re happy with the job.
