Panasonic Appliance Repair & Warranty

Panasonic

We’d all like some assurance that the expensive appliances we purchase will work as intended for a reasonable stretch of time. Manufacturer’s warranties provide some insurance, but terms vary from company to company and product to product. We need detailed, product-specific information to fully understand the coverage we’re entitled to.

In this article, we’ll review the warranty terms for Panasonic products. We’ll also explore extended coverage options that can help you repair your Panasonic appliances after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.

Panasonic Warranty Coverage Overview

Panasonic is a large company with a vast product line. The company produces computers and tablets, televisions, cameras and lenses, telecommunications equipment, and a range of other electronic devices and appliances.

This variety means that Panasonic doesn’t have a hard-and-fast warranty policy. Rather, Panasonic warranty terms differ depending on the device or appliance in question. Even different component parts of the same product could have different levels of coverage.

Take Panasonic laptops and tablets as an example. Generally speaking, Panasonic warranties these products for three years from the date of purchase. The batteries included with these devices, however, are warrantied for only one year. Similarly, while some laptop and tablet accessories—such as power cords, docking cradles, and keyboards—have three years of coverage, other accessories have coverage that doesn’t last nearly as long. External USB drives and battery chargers are covered for one year, and stylus pens and SIM cards are covered for only 90 days.

What’s Not Covered by a Panasonic Warranty?

As is standard, Panasonic’s warranties, however long they last, cover damage that arises from defective materials or poor workmanship. Don’t expect the standard warranty to cover cosmetic damage or accidental damage. Panasonic won’t replace a laptop that falls into a pool, for example. That kind of protection requires additional coverage, which we’ll cover in the next section.

No Panasonic warranties guard against intentional abuse or product misuse. If you use your product for something that’s drastically different than its intended purpose and it gets damaged, Panasonic won’t cover the repairs.

Panasonic warranties on appliances won’t protect you from installation errors either. Even if you are confident in your ability to install an appliance, it might be worth paying for a professional installation. The installer will usually provide some protection against installation-related damage.

Panasonic Extended Warranty Coverage

Consumers of Panasonic products aren’t limited to the coverage provided by the manufacturer’s warranties. There are multiple extended warranty options for Panasonic products.

Some of these options come from Panasonic itself. For example, Panasonic sells an extended warranty program for its computers. This provides the same parts and labor coverage that the original warranty provides, but this coverage extends beyond the original three-year window.

For more comprehensive coverage, Panasonic offers the Protection Plus Warranty. This broadens coverage to include accidental damage—good news if you’ve dropped that laptop in the pool. A similar program, the Ultimate Care Warranty, expands this coverage even further to include virtually everything aside from intentional abuse.

Is the Panasonic Extended Warranty Worth It?

While the above extended warranty programs cost money, Panasonic occasionally advertises promotional offers of extended coverage. As of 2021, most Panasonic cameras and lenses are eligible for a three-year extended warranty program. This program is free, but it is the consumer’s responsibility to seek out the program and register.

There are some limitations to Panasonic’s extended warranty service. These programs still stipulate that devices must be serviced by authorized Panasonic technicians, and failing to do so can void the policy. These programs are also sometimes limited to single products, and they’re all limited to products manufactured by Panasonic.

The other big concern is that you will have to keep up with each warranty separately. If you purchase an extended warranty for one appliance, it’s not going to apply to another Panasonic product.

Technically, you could purchase an extended warranty for every eligible Panasonic product you own. However, keeping up with all of those separate expiration dates and warranty credentials will become very tedious.

A home warranty might be a better option because you can cover several different appliances with a single policy. Here’s a look at what a home warranty is and why you should consider it.

What’s a Home Warranty?

A home warranty is a broad protection policy offered by a third-party company like Liberty Home Guard. We provide a few bundled plans, including Appliance Guard, which can protect major kitchen and general appliances like dryers, washers, refrigerators, and ranges.

Home warranty policies are very easy to obtain and keep up with. Simply choose the type of policy you want, provide some information about your appliances, and receive a quote. Once you activate your policy, Liberty Home Guard will take care of the rest. We cover many of the same issues as a Panasonic warranty and more.

How a Home Warranty Compares to a Panasonic Warranty

There are a few key differences between a Panasonic warranty and coverage from Liberty Home Guard. The most notable distinctions are that our warranty lasts much longer and also offers broader protection.

You will also be able to simplify the process of protecting your appliances since all of your coverage will be wrapped into a single comprehensive warranty.

If you need to file a claim, simply contact our team with your policy number, and we will arrange an appointment with a certified technician. We will take care of all repair costs, including labor and parts.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

HOME WARRANTY
  • What is a home warranty?

A home warranty is a service contract that covers the cost of repairs and replacements for your home’s systems and appliances when they break down over time from normal wear and tear.

  • How does a home warranty work?

It’s simple, you can select the coverage plan of your choice that is the best fit for your home and budget.

When you request service for a covered item, you will be charged a pre-set fee in order to initiate the service request.

With an LHG home warranty, when a covered item needs repair, simply follow these steps:

    • File a claim online or call.
    • After paying your set fee, we’ll put you in contact with a local contractor to schedule your appointment.
    • After officially diagnosing the problem, the contractor will contact us to make sure the issue is covered by your plan.
    • If everything checks out, the contractor will then repair or replace the item in question.
    • Afterwards, we’ll check in with you by email or phone to make sure you’re happy with the job.
  • What does a home warranty cover?

Liberty Home Guard offers 3 different plans depending on the coverage your home needs. The Total Home Guard is a combination of both our Appliance Guard and Systems Guard plan. It is our most comprehensive and most economical.

We offer add-ons to each plan. Check HERE for our Home Warranty Plans & Policies page to learn more about everything we cover.

  • How is a home warranty different from homeowner’s insurance?

A home warranty covers the costs of repairs and replacements of major home appliances and systems. Home systems, for example, include plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

Homeowners insurance provides coverage if theft or natural disaster hits.

  • How is a home warranty different from a manufacturer’s warranty?

The main difference is that a manufacturer’s warranty generally covers the failed part of a single appliance, but usually doesn’t include the cost of labor or repair. With a home warranty, one plan covers a variety of systems and appliances, making it a more cost-effective way to safeguard your home.

  • Why is buying a home warranty a good decision for homeowners?

A home warranty protects the homeowner’s budget by removing the risk of fluctuating expenses when big ticket items break down. With a Liberty Home Guard home warranty, the homeowner will pay for a monthly plan, along with a flat rate service call fee associated with any repairs, rather than the full retail cost of replacing or repairing any of their home appliances or systems.

  • Do I have to get a home inspection before getting a Liberty Home Guard home warranty?

No. Liberty Home Guard doesn’t require a home inspection or any maintenance records to purchase a home warranty plan.

  • How long does it take to fulfill a service request?

Liberty Home Guard will dispatch a licensed technician to your home within 24 - 48 (business) hours of your request. Extenuating circumstances do apply.

  • Can I choose my own service contractor?

Yes, you absolutely can. We only ask that you reach out to us first so that we can authorize the contractor you'd like to work with. This helps ensure that the highest standards are applied and that you and your family are kept safe. In our experience, you will usually save the most money and get the best work done using an LHG Certified Professional. All of our contractors are licensed professionals, and their work comes with a 60-day workmanship guarantee.
